Been using this app for several years. Excellent product. Will not do a crossing without it.
Works like a champ. Valuable information. Highly recommend.
The perfect companion. Would very much like to see grib downloads for Iceland and maybe Greenland as well!
I am located in Annapolis, Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay and consider myself an avid racing sailor and fisherman. I have found that being able to view Grib files from my Iphone has become an indispensable tool in knowing what the weather will be out on the bay. I have been continually impressed with the accuarcy of the Grib files used by this app. Additionally, I have only good things to say about the designer who has been VERY receptive to suggestions and actually created a Mid-Atantic chart as requested. For anyone who has a true interest in weather I would recommend this app without fail. Some have criticized the fact that charts are downloaded but I believe trying to stream these files would be a real issue in marginal signals areas (e.g. middle of the Bay) and much prefer downloading the most recent file. IMHO, this app is well worth the price. Fair winds!
I tour on a motorcycle and wind is my only real enemy unless there is ice. I was hoping that the program would show wind speed instead of just direction. Also, I live in US do I dont understand Celsius. Im sure it will help me in time.
On the US eastern seaboard map it doesnt show the little arrows, with the thickness of the arrows varying to indicate strength (like on one of the preview screens I saw before I bought it). It just shows very large and vague pointers, plus some little symbol (two concentric circles) which I have no idea what that means. So for the Chesapeake, its pretty useless.
I like this app, but along with a previous reviewer would like to see better wind coverage of, for example, San Francisco Bay, where I currently do most of my sailing. The wind vector arrows there are too large, sparse and vague. All in all, a good app. And worth the $$.
Very nice to get grib files from the network. Too many narrow coverage options, too few for broad overall area depictions.
As someone who has spent many years working on the water I find this app my most accurate weather app.
Love it, use it almost every day
My wife and I are full time live-aboard explorer - cruisers (moored in the Florida Keys during our 1st review, then in Greece 18 months later and a yr later back in England). We have been using iGrib since its inception and must rave about how great an app it is. We depend on the winds to sail Angel Louise, our Catalac 12 Meter Catamaran. We have found the product superb up to now as we can access the Grib files showing relevant winds and expected weather for several days in the areas we sail. It is one of the best apps we have ever had on our iPad. We are familiar with using Grib files on our Mac with MacENC software and over Sailmail, but this is a super program for those with an iPad, iPhone or iPod. We can attest that iGrib has been invaluable from Florida throughout our trip here. BRAVO! I
Tried to load a GRIB file and the app crashed. Using using the Define New File feature. Four attempts, four crashes. I discovered that if you put a space in the name of the file it will crash. No biggie. Stay tuned
Very useful when out of cell phone range for a few days eg near offshore, as files are downloaded to iPhone. Great app.
So far, worthless. I want current information and can only get historical, which is of no use. The settings dont update. So again, a worthless app. This app just does not work. I cant even get the historical (which I cant use) stuff to work on my iPad.
I am a Captain and go to sea for a living. The information provided is both accurate and timely. Ive been using Grib for several years. All the predictions have been correct. The iGrib app is the logical progression it puts accurate weather information in your pocket. A must-have if you are going to sea.
I really love the range a flexibility the app provides. I would love even more if it showed Front bars.
